Original artwork is the draw at Beach Blossom Studio. It appears on illustrated phone cases, tote bags, mugs, keychains, and journals, alongside unique jewelry. Nothing here looks mass-produced which is exactly why it is worth keeping long after the tan fades.
Ginny’s and Jane E’s Café and Coastal Store

The tarpon oil painting hanging in my home came from Ginny’s and Jane E’s, painted in soft blues and silver, and it remains one of my favorite island purchases. The shop is retro and a little quirky, with handmade coastal jewelry, whimsical postcards, seashell art, upcycled crafts, and custom T-shirts. Pineapple Marketplace

Candles are my weakness at The Sand Dollar Gift Shop and I have bought quite a few over the years. The shabby-chic interior also holds beach-inspired clothing, jewelry, home decor, bath products, and distinctive gifts. West Coast Surf Shop

West Coast Surf Shop has been part of my island routine since the early 1980s, when I started buying zip-up jackets here with lettering down the sleeve and a vintage beach photo on the back. Established in 1964, it is recognized as Florida’s oldest surf shop. Branded T-shirts, board shorts, hats, sunglasses, sandals, and beach accessories fill the racks, and it is the place to go for a piece of true Florida surf history.

Green Turtle Shell and Gift Shop

The Fox Mercantile

The vintage hotel keychains are the find here, and they make a fun little keepsake. The Fox Mercantile is a boutique and coffee bar with coastal clothing, jewelry, accessories, homewares, books, and pantry provisions. Foxi Coffee handles specialty espresso, cold brew, and lattes while you browse. It was named Best New Shop of 2024 by Sarasota Magazine.
