Welcome to my 9 Part Series: Explore Amsterdam.
First things first, this is not your typical travel series. It will not cover the usual suspects like best things to do or best foods to try. Those topics are equally important, but they are not what this series is about.
There are many talented writers who have researched and compiled great top 10 lists about Amsterdam. That is simply not why I am here.
What this series delivers is a curated collection of experiences that reach beyond the typical tourist checklist. The hidden, the unexpected, and the genuinely worth your time.
When planning a trip, I break my research down into three sections:
- Rudimentary · facts and language
- Deep dive · researching unusual, off-center, and eccentric finds
- Logistics · planning the visit
Of the three, the deep dive is where my skills are best served. As a CPA, I attack research and pay close attention to detail, and those are a couple of my greatest fortes.
My recommendations are thorough and include pertinent information such as address, phone, hours of operation, a Google map, and links to websites and social media. After reading any post in this series, you will have a very clear idea of whether you would like to add my suggestion to your visit.
Once the planning is complete, I document everything in what I call my little black travel book. During trips, this book receives a lot of love. It accompanies me everywhere, fellow travelers page through it, and it is referenced numerous times throughout the day.
Keep Exploring Amsterdam
