Welcome to my 9 Part Series: “Explore Amsterdam“.
First things first, this is not your normal run of the mill series. It will not cover the usual suspects such as: “best things to do” or “best foods to try” type of topics. Don’t get me wrong, these topics are equally important but not included in this series.
There are many writers who have researched and scribed great lists of “the top 10…” in Amsterdam. It simply is not why I am here.
What this series will deliver is a curated list of the tentacles that reach beyond the typical tourist checklist.
When planning to travel I break down my research into three sections:
- Rudimentary · facts and language
- Deep dive · research unusual, off-center, and eccentric “things”
- Logistics · plan the visit
Of the three sections, “deep dive” is by far where my skills are the best served. As a CPA, I attack research and pay attention to details! These are a couple of my fortes.
Descriptions of my recommendations are through. They include pertinent information such as: address, phone, hours of operations, a google map, and links to their websites and social media. After reading my post you will have a very good idea if you would like to add my suggestion to your visit.
Once the planning is complete, I begin documenting everything in what I call “my little black travel book”. During trips this book receives lots of love…it accompanies me everywhere, fellow travelers page through the book, and it is referenced numerous times during the day.
