Amsterdam - The Seafood Bar - Restaurant

The Seafood Bar is a modern seafood restaurant with four locations in Amsterdam. The restaurant offers a wide variety of the highest quality seafood.

Founder and owner, Fons de Visscher was a respected fishmonger for 27 years in the Netherlands, when he decided to open a fish restaurant. In 2012 Fons created The Seafood Bar on Baerlestraat in the Museum Quarter.

Three years later he opened a second larger location on Spui in central Amsterdam. This is the location where we dined.

The Vibe

The Seafood Bar is a stylish place to get your seafood fix.

The Spui location evokes an ocean feel. With the exposed brick walls, white subway tiles, and hanging white light fixtures the long and skinny interior feels crisp and contemporary.

The restaurant is bustling! As you enter the bar greets you on the right. Climb up the stairs to the second level which provides two rear spaces where diners can enjoy a quieter space alongside the seafood displays.

The Service

The service at The Seafood Bar is excellent. The staff members are friendly, attentive, efficient, and knowledgeable. They are happy to make recommendations tailored to your tastes and preferences.

The Menu

They offer giant King Crab legs, oysters from different locations, prawns, sardines, mussels, clams, lobster rolls, to a full on seafood tower. And, you won’t go wrong with a crisp glass of white wine. Click for The Seafood Bar menu.

The Prices

Although it’s on the higher end of the spectrum, The Seafood Bar offers excellent value for your money. The prices reflect the freshness and quality of their ingredients.

When To Go

Guests are welcomed daily from 12 PM. No reservation is needed but it is recommended to book a table as the restaurant can be crowded with people queuing in the street. They reserve only 60% of the tables and keep the rest available for walk-ins.
