Sun and Surf Beach Shop occupies the eastern corner unit of the Island Shopping Center in the heart of Holmes Beach on Anna Maria Island.
At this shop you will find a large selection of beach apparel, decor, souvenirs, and more. They stock lots of beach themed T-shirts, cover-ups, swim wear, and gifts. All the typical things you find at beach shops are sold here.

Along the sidewalk and flanking the shop front doors are some noisy residents…11 colorful birds! There are African gray parrots, macaws, and other exotic birds sheltered in 10 cages.
The birds are celebrities at the Island Shopping Center.
Each bird has a distinct personality. Some are quiet, some are gentle, some sing, some dance, some say weird things, and some squawk loudly.

Each bird’s name is prominently displayed on a miniature license plate attached to their cages. The plates also list the rules for human visitors. The most obvious is “I bite!” A macaw bite can exert 1,200 pounds of pressure per square inch!
The birds are outside when the shop is open. They are moved inside the store at closing time.
Stop by and meet them all. Romeo may even greet you with a squawking “Hello”!

Long before Jimmy Buffet composed Cheeseburger in Paradise, the beach, burgers, and beers have been a staple of Florida life.
Since 1971, when Pat and Ed Geyer purchased Duffy’s Tavern, the restaurant has been the Anna Maria Island landmark for the local burger. These days you can see their daughters carrying on the tradition of great food with a local attitude.
The Anna Maria General Store on Anna Maria Island has been the local place to shop since the 1950s. As the name implies the store sells food and a large variety of other products.
The General Store sells food, drinks, beach gear, sundries, and household supplies to locals and visitors. The grocery department has a nice variety of necessities needed while on the Island. The deli serves Boars Head, the grill serves hot meals, and the bakery serves items for breakfast, snacks, and dessert.
