Restaurants That Cook Your Catch on Anna Maria Island: My Insider Guide

Updated: October 2026

There is a special kind of satisfaction in carrying a bag of fresh fillets into a restaurant and handing them to a chef. After a morning on the Gulf or Tampa Bay, someone else takes over the cooking, you order a cold drink, and the fish you caught arrives at the table with a side or two. On Anna Maria Island, a handful of restaurants are glad to make that happen.

This guide covers where to take your catch, how the process usually works, and what to do before you walk in the door.

How Catch and Cook Works on Anna Maria Island

Most restaurants that offer this service ask that your fish arrive cleaned and filleted, ideally on ice. Many charter captains will clean the fish for you at the dock, which makes the handoff easy. Preparation styles, side dishes, and portion limits vary from place to place, and policies can change, so a quick phone call before you go is always worth the time. If you are fishing from your own boat, Best Boat Accessible Restaurants on Anna Maria Island: My Insider Guide shows where you can tie up and walk in for dinner.

Restaurants That Will Cook Your Catch

The restaurants below are listed alphabetically. Two are on the island itself and one is on the north end of Longboat Key, all within a short drive of the island’s fishing charters and boat ramps.

The Feast Restaurant

  • 5406 Marina Drive · Holmes Beach
  • 941-778-5092
  • Daily · 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM
  • Happy Hour · Daily · 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM

The Feast offers a “You Catch, We Cook” service. Bring your catch already filleted and call ahead before you come in so the staff knows to expect you. Choose your preparation: blackened, fried, grilled, or Jamaican jerk. Your fish comes out as an entrée with your choice of two sides.

Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant & Pub

  • 760 Broadway Street · Longboat Key
  • 941-383-2391
  • Daily · 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Mar Vista sits just across Longboat Pass from the south end of Anna Maria Island in Longboat Village. The Old Florida setting dates back to 1912, with tables under the shade of century-old buttonwood trees. Mar Vista offers both hook and cook and dock and dine, so it is a natural stop if you arrive by boat. Call ahead to confirm the current details on bringing your own fish. The Waterfront Restaurant

  • 111 Bay Boulevard South · Anna Maria
  • 941-778-1515
  • Sunday – Thursday · 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM
  • Friday & Saturday · 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM

The Waterfront is the restaurant most closely tied to catch and cook on the island. Its “You Catch, We Cook” option has been part of the restaurant for years and it has long worked hand in hand with local fishing charter captains. Bring your cleaned fish after a charter and the kitchen will prepare it with a few sides. The cottage setting and patio views of Tampa Bay make it a memorable place to eat something you caught that same day.

Tips Before You Bring Your Fish

  • Call ahead. Confirm that the restaurant is still offering the service, ask about preparation styles and sides, and ask whether there is a limit on how much fish you can bring.
  • Bring fillets on ice. Cleaned, skinned fillets in a sealed bag on ice are the easiest for any kitchen to handle.
  • Know the rules. Check current Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission regulations for size limits, bag limits, and filleting rules before you keep a fish.
  • Ask your captain. Charter captains on the island know which restaurants welcome a catch and often clean the fish at the dock.
  • Keep the group in mind. Bring a reasonable amount of fish, then let the regular menu cover the rest of the table.
  • Expect a wait. Popular restaurants fill up at sunset, especially on weekends, so ask about reservations or the best time to arrive.

If the Fish Were Not Biting

Not every trip ends with a full cooler. If you come back from your charter empty handed, you can still enjoy fresh local seafood.
