Getting to Anna Maria Island from the airport, or booking a reliable ride for a special evening out, takes a little more planning than people expect. Uber and Lyft exist here but aren’t always dependable, especially during peak season when demand outpaces drivers. Knowing your options in advance makes all the difference.
This guide covers every private car and shuttle service worth knowing about on Anna Maria Island, from airport transfers to event nights, so you can book with confidence and skip the guesswork.
For a full overview of all transportation options on the island including the free trolley, golf carts, biking, and the Monkey Bus, see my Transportation on Anna Maria Island: My Insider Guide.
A Note on Uber and Lyft
Both Uber and Lyft operate on Anna Maria Island, but service can be inconsistent, especially during peak season weekends and late nights when demand outpaces driver availability. They work fine as a backup option but aren’t reliable enough to be your primary plan for airport runs or special occasions. The private services below are a better bet when timing matters.
Airport Transfer Quick Guide
The two main airports serving Anna Maria Island are Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), about 25 to 30 minutes away, and Tampa International Airport (TPA), roughly an hour to 90 minutes depending on traffic. Most providers below serve both.

Local Tips for Booking Car Services on Anna Maria Island
Book early during peak season. January through April is busy across the board. Don’t assume availability the day before you need a ride.
Confirm child seat availability in advance. Not every provider includes them, and those that do may need advance notice.
Check airport coverage before you book. Most services focus on SRQ and TPA, but if you’re flying into Orlando or Fort Lauderdale, confirm before committing.
Ask about luggage capacity. If you’re traveling with a large group or a lot of gear, confirm the vehicle size fits your needs when you book.
Use private services for late nights. Uber and Lyft availability drops off significantly after midnight on the island. If you’re planning a late evening out on Bridge Street or elsewhere, book a private service in advance rather than hoping rideshare comes through.
Coastal Close
Having a reliable ride lined up takes one more thing off your plate so you can actually enjoy the island. Whether you need a seamless airport arrival, a sunset dinner transfer, or a late-night ride home, the services above have you covered. Once you’re here and settled in, the free trolley, a golf cart, and the Monkey Bus can handle almost everything else.
